Football: Darius Jones helps Canoga Park to 2-0 start
There’s a new favorite in the Valley Mission League: Canoga Park.
The Hunters have started their season with wins over Taft and Granada Hills. When is the last time Canoga Park beat those schools in anything but soccer?
Running back Darius Jones had 128 yards rushing against Taft and gained 207 yards against Granada Hills while also catching six passes for 90 yards. Tysean Holmes added 130 yards rushing in Friday’s 41-21 win over the Highlanders.
Of course, the Hunters figure to receive strong competition from Sylmar, which defeated Roosevelt, 41-20.
Correction: An earlier version of this blog had Sylmar losing to Roosevelt. Sylmar defeated Roosevelt, 41-20.
