Football: Brandon McKinney is showing Washington made a good judgment call
- Share via
Washington is unbeaten and suddenly the hot team in the Pac-12 Conference, but it was months ago, before anyone knew how good the Huskies would be, that Brandon McKinney of Orange Lutheran committed to the Huskies.
Both Washington and McKinney should be very happy with each’s judgment.
“He’s one of those guys who got on the bandwagon before anyone else did,” Orange Lutheran Coach Chuck Petersen said.
McKinney, a senior defensive back-receiver, has been having an MVP season for the Lancers. Last week against Servite, he returned two interceptions for touchdowns, caught a touchdown pass and forced a fumble.
“The thing I asked him to do going into the year was we wanted him to be more assertive in terms of communication, making checks and getting our back seven lined up,” Petersen said. “He’s been tremendous. He’s our quarterback on defense.”
Orange Lutheran continues Trinity League action on Friday against Santa Margarita at Saddleback College.
