Boys’ basketball: Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Gardena Serra face off in title game
- Share via
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Gardena Serra, both overshadowed by stronger teams in league play, have made it through the Southern Section 4AA playoffs in great shape and will face off on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. at Azusa Pacific to decide the 4AA championship.
Notre Dame’s big accomplishment this season was beating Harvard-Westlake three times. Serra, which played in the tough Del Rey League won by Bishop Montgomery, has showed off talented sophomore guard Kobe Smith. Notre Dame has come on strong behind senior Chibueze Jacobs.
At 8:30 p.m., Diamond Ranch, under former La Verne Lutheran Coach Eric Cooper, will face Chaminade for the 3A championship.
Be prepared to look up, because Diamond Ranch has a 7-foot-1 senior in Roman Silva and Chaminade has a 6-11 freshman in Makur Maker.
