Boys’ basketball: Marcus LoVett Jr. scores 45 points in state playoff loss
Marcus LoVett Jr., a talented high school senior who began his prep career at Burbank Providence, then went to San Gabriel Academy, turned in a record performance playing for Chicago Morgan Park on Friday.
In the Illinois 3A semifinal, LoVett set a division record with 45 points in his team’s 82-74 loss to Belleville Althoff.
It was vintage LoVett, who was one of the most exciting guards during his playing days in Southern California.
He came in averaging 19 points for Morgan Park. He made 20 of 27 shots.
