Boys’ basketball: Long Beach Poly, Corona Centennial advance to Fairfax semifinals
Long Beach Poly and Corona Centennial cruised to quarterfinal victories on Wednesday in the Fairfax basketball tournament and will meet on Friday at 6 p.m. in one semifinal game.
Poly defeated Crespi, 68-27. The Celts played without three starters. Zafir Williams scored 18 points for the Jackrabbits.
Jalen Hill had 18 points in Centennial’s 74-42 win over Brentwood.
In consolation games, Jamal Hartwell had 22 points in Fairfax’s 72-42 win over Maranatha. Justin Kouyoumdjian scored 19 points in La Canada’s 51-43 win over Orange Lutheran. Chris Williams scored 17 points for the Lancers.
In Thursday’s championship quarterfinals, Mater Dei will play Chino Hills at 6 p.m. followed by Redondo taking on Santa Margarita at 7:30 p.m.
