Boys’ basketball: Crespi, Fairfax win Open Division consolation titles

Crespi and Fairfax each won consolation Open Division championships on Thursday in the Southern Section and City Section, respectively.
Crespi improved to 28-4 with an 89-71 rout of Redondo. Sophomore Taj Regans scored 25 points, senior De’Anthony Melton scored 24 points and sophomore Brandon Williams added 21 points. Cameron Williams had 14 points for Redondo.
Fairfax (30-4) rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Birmingham, 62-59. Antoine Monroe scored 19 points and Jeremy Hamilton 15. Devante Doutrive led Birmingham with 25 points.
Crespi and Fairfax will be in the Southern California Regionals that begin next week in Division I.
In the Southern Section Open Division girls’ consolation final, Troy defeated Alemany, 58-49.
In the City Section, Fairfax defeated Granada Hills, 46-33.
