Boys’ basketball: Cody Riley leads Sierra Canyon to opening win in Missouri

Cody Riley, a 6-foot-8 junior at Chatsworth Sierra Canyon, put on quite a show on Thursday night in Missouri.
He scored 30 points in a 63-41 victory over Missouri Kickapoo in a first-round game of the Bass Pro TOC tournament in Springfield, Mo.
Riley made 12 of 17 shots and also had 13 rebounds. Sierra Canyon improved to 13-1.
In the Gold Coast, Windward defeated Brentwood, 84-72. Jules Bernard scored 28 points, Jalen Harris 23 and Shareef O’Neal 22 points for Windward. Nick Medavoy had 19 points for Brentwood. McAuliffe defeated Paraclete, 50-44.
In the Olympic League, Heritage Christian defeated Valley Christian, 70-62.
Verbum Dei defeated Tarbut V’Torah, 68-44. Brandon Averitt had 25 points for TVT.
