Boys’ basketball: Chino Hills is ready to turn up the pressure in Division I playoffs
Six Open Division teams have been returned to the Division I Southern California Regional playoffs. Some haven’t played in two weeks. They’re fresh, they’re healthy and they’re excited.
Chino Hills could be the most interesting team sent back to Division I. The Huskies open at home against Fresno Bullard tonight.
Junior guard Lonzo Ball is healthy. That’s all you need to know. And that means there’s going to be excitement and up and down nonstop action.
“I think our guys are ready to compete and make a run,” Coach Steve Baik said.
Ball and his brother, LiAngelo, want to make a state run so they’ll have a little ammunition when their little brother, LiMelo, arrives in the fall.
Chino Hills is seeded No. 2 in the tournament behind No. 1 Corona Centennial, which opens against Granada Hills. The other Open Division teams returning are Redondo, Long Beach Poly, North and St. John Bosco.
