Boys’ basketball: Central City wins City Section Division V championship
Joel Finney scores 24 points in 78-57 win
Central City showed off the outside-inside duo of Joel Finney and 6-foot-7 sophomore Boe Nguidjol en route to defeating Middle College, 78-57, on Wednesday night at North Hollywood to win the City Section Division V championship.
Finney, averaging 32.5 points, finished with 24 points. Nguidjol had 19 points. Christian Finney added 15 points. Central City improved to 26-4.
Middle College was led by Khaelin Davenport, who scored 28 points.
In the Division V girls’ final, Academia Avance defeated Community Charter, 28-23.
