Boys’ basketball: Cassius Stanley school decision coming soon
There are coaches holding their breaths waiting to see where incoming ninth-grader Cassius Stanley ends up playing basketball.
The 6-foot-4 Stanley was named MVP of the Pangos All-American Camp Top 60 game at Cal State Dominguez Hills over the weekend when he scored 17 points.
Stanley originally attended Sierra Canyon. He could have played in high school last season but decided to attend West Valley Christian. USC offered him a scholarship as an eighth-grader.
Now, with summer ball about to begin, Stanley will soon announce his high school choice.
Harvard-Westlake, Sierra Canyon and Village Christian are reportedly among the school candidates, and Findlay Prep from Nevada is trying to land him.
“He’s always been an athlete,” Pangos director Dinos Trigonis said. “His ball handling is improved, his shooting is improved.”
And he can dunk pretty well.
