Boys’ basketball: Chino Hills wins its 59th consecutive game

The state record for most consecutive wins in boys’ basketball is 66 set by Compton. Chino Hills is getting closer. The Huskies won No. 59 in a row on Tuesday night, defeating Etiwanda, 93-72.

The Huskies are 24-0 and 7-0 in the Baseline League. They trailed after the first quarter, 16-11. Then they took charge behind Eli Scott, who scored 29 points, and LaMelo Ball, who had 26 points. Kessler Edwards led Etiwanda with 30 points.

Rancho Cucamonga defeated Los Osos, 86-70. Justin Hemsley and Cameron Shelton each scored 22 points in Damien’s 89-62 win over Upland.

Jalen Hill scored 22 points in Corona Centennial’s 94-42 win over Corona Santiago.

In the Gold Coast League, Viewpoint defeated McAuliffe, 64-36. Freshman Andrew Reyes had 15 points. Marvin Bagley III scored 32 points in Sierra Canyon’s 96-61 win over Paraclete.

Windward defeated Campbell Hall, 87-65, and will host Sierra Canyon on Wednesday. Jules Bernard scored 45 points. Windward and Sierra Canyon are both unbeaten in league. Mike Meadows had 28 points for Campbell Hall.

In the Golden League, Highland improved to 11-0 with a 96-44 win over Quartz Hill. Deshay Gipson and Justen Miller each scored 16 points.

In the Foothill League, Valencia received 22 points from Jordan Trower in a 64-53 win over Golden Valley. Hart defeated Canyon, 58-55. Saugus defeated West Ranch, 62-51, behind Zach Phipps, who scored 24 points.

Ryse Williams scored 15 points in Redondo’s 72-61 win over Inglewood. Myles James had 22 points for Inglewood. Four players reached double figures in Peninsula’s 71-60 win over Morningside. Nick Frasso led the way with 20 points.

Flintridge Prep defeated Rio Hondo Prep, 76-40. Jake Althouse scored 20 points and Kendall Kikkawa added 11 points and nine assists.

Heritage Christian defeated Village Christian, 71-56. Juhwan Harris-Dyson finished with 20 points.

Esperanza is 22-1 after a 63-39 win over Brea Olinda. Brendan Harrick scored 19 points and KZ Okpala added 17.
