Boys’ basketball: Bryce Hamilton leads Pasadena past Cantwell-Sacred Heart

Watch out for 6-foot-3 junior guard Bryce Hamilton of Pasadena. He’s going to cause lots of problems for opponents.

He has scored 25 and 25 points in his first two games to lift the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record in the Maranatha tournament. His latest 25-point, 10-rebound performance helped Pasadena knock off Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 62-52. Darius Brown added 17 points.

Pasadena advances to Friday’s semifinals against either Fairfax or Palisades.

Matt Bradley of San Bernardino scored 48 points in an 84-71 loss to Redlands East Valley in the Corona Centennial tournament.

Foothills Christian defeated Orange Lutheran, 75-68. Chris Williams scored 22 points for the Lancers. Jaylen Hands had 22 points for Foothills Christian, which will play Chino Hills on Friday night at Centennial. It will match future Bruins Hands, LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball.

LiAngelo scored 72 points in a 128-108 win over Rancho Christian.

Justin Hemsley scored 23 points in Damien’s 108-31 win over South El Monte. Cameron Shelton had 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Freshman Austin Cook had 19 points.

Los Alamitos (2-0) defeated Troy, 67-54. Joseph Riley had 20 points and Jacob Eyman added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

North Hollywood defeated Canoga Park, 54-43. Harrison Acpah had 13 points.

Village Christian (2-0) defeated Glendale, 85-56. Sophomore Javon Jones had 27 points. Bing Huang scored 22 points in Westlake’s 73-59 win over Burbank. Westlake is 3-0.

Bishop Montgomery received 25 points from Ethan Thompson and 23 points from David Singleton in a 76-41 win over Bakersfield in the Westchester tournament.

Washington defeated Dorsey, 74-71. Tawrence Shoffner had 19 points and 17 assists. Jon Staggers scored 27 points and Brandon Crawford 22 for Dorsey. St. Bernard defeated Van Nuys, 52-48.

Brentwood (2-0) defeated Carson, 59-39. Charley Wadler finished with 20 points.

St. Augustine handed Sherman Oaks Notre Dame its first defeat, 75-45. Julian Rishwain had 14 points for Notre Dame. Villa Park defeated Central City, 76-57.

Burroughs defeated Buckley, 66-46. Justin Henderson scored 18 points.

Oz Stokes scored 33 points in Upland’s 64-56 win over Silverado. Rancho Cucamonga defeated Rowland, 65-60.

Flintridge Prep defeated Aveson, 68-36. Jake Althouse scored 19 points.

Dominguez defeated Trinity, 55-54, on a game-winning basket by Wayne Arnold.
