Baseball: Chaminade-St. Francis game to resume
At 10:15 p.m. on Monday night, the lights went off at Brookside Park. Chaminade had an 8-2 lead over St. Francis. St. Francis had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Both teams walked off the field.
The question is what happens next?
Does Chaminade get the victory? Was it a suspended game that should be resumed?
And complicating the issue is that the umpires showed up 10 minutes late, which is probably the reason the game wasn’t completed before the lights went off.
The Mission League principals voted on Wednesday to make it a suspended game and resume the game prior to Friday’s scheduled game at Chaminade.
For two days, administrators at the two schools have been consulting with Mission League officials trying to figure out how to proceed. It was not previously addressed in league bylaws what to do.
It will be added to the bylaws.
