Baseball: JSerra completes three-game sweep of Orange Lutheran
It was No. 1 Orange Lutheran vs. No. 2 JSerra in a three-game baseball series this week.
There’s going to be a new No. 1 team after JSerra completed a three-game sweep of the Lancers on Friday night with a 7-0 victory to take a two-game lead in the Trinity League and move toward earning a No. 1 seeding for the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs. It was the second shutout this week for the Lions.
JSerra (19-6, 8-2) still has two games left against St. John Bosco and three games against Servite, but the way the Lions played had to be very satisfying for Coach Brett Kay.
It was junior pitcher Cole Samuels coming through in a big way by allowing two hits and no runs in 5 1/3 innings. Chase Brown got the save with 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief.
Royce Lewis, Davis Wendzel, Brady Shockey, Matt Manskar David Le Bioda each had two hits. Colin Townsend had two RBIs. Orange Lutheran dropped to 16-6 and 5-4.
