Baseball: Freshman Brice Turang raises average to .569 for Corona Santiago

There aren’t many freshmen quite like Corona Santiago shortstop Brice Turang. He got his 28th and 29th hits of the season on Monday, giving him a .569 batting average. The Sharks defeated Riverside Poly, 7-4, in a Lions tournament game.

In a Moore League game, Lakewood rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Long Beach Wilson, 3-2, on a walk-off hit by Christian Valdez.

Aliso Niguel defeated Colorado Greeley, 17-0. Connor McCarthy threw a one-hitter. Dominic Colacchio had a three-run triple. Glendora defeated Rocklin, 11-4.

Sierra Canyon defeated Hoover, 21-4. Brock Bell had two doubles and a home run. Jake Fried added five RBI.

Ryan Shreve threw five shutout innings in Taft’s 3-0 win over McClatchy. Jonathan Tyler threw 4 2/3 scoreless innings in St. Francis’ 2-1 win over Paraclete.

Abbott Haffar went four for four in Simi Valley’s 11-1 win over Mira Mesa.

Royal defeated Shawdow Hills, 10-0. Kurt Johnson hit a three-run home run.

San Dimas improved to 12-0 with a 19-2 win over Canyon Springs. Logan Muratalla threw five shutout innings and Jacob Castillo went four for four. Dante Palacio and Peter Lambert each had three hits.

Granada Hills Kennedy lost to St. Augustine, 4-2. Adrian Rodriguez threw nine shutout innings, but Birmingham was beaten by Patrick Henry, 1-0, in 12 innings. El Camino Real lost to La Costa Canyon, 6-3.

Kaleb Fossum threw a no-hitter to help El Toro defeat Palm Springs, 10-0. Gavin Garcia had three hits.

Bonita improved to 10-3 with an 8-1 victory over La Canada. Daniel Rocha struck out 11 and Isaiah Flowers hit a two-run him run in Narbonne’s 2-0 win over Carolina Forrest. Crespi defeated Monte Vista, 6-1.

St. John Bosco defeated Loyola, 10-6. Tyler Smith went three for three, including a home run. Gavin Windes added three hita and four RBI.

Hamilton defeated Rancho Dominguez, 10-0. Max Johnson went three for three and Ethan Lazar added two hits and three RBI. Westchester defeated Marshall, 2-1.

Matt Nash went four for four in Granada Hills’ 9-1 win over South Gate.

Cathedral defeated Gardena Serra, 5-1, behind Emilio Artica, who threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

Warren defeated Culver City, 16-1 Steven Nuno, Michael Hurtado and Joe Ruiz all had RBI triples.

Santa Barbara defeated La Palma Kennedy, 4-2, and Soquel, 10-0. Marcus Turner allowed three hits in six innings. Carter Soto had a home run and Dalton Schroeder went four for four in the second game.

El Segundo defeated Torrance, 3-1. Willem Mosert threw a one-hitter.

North Hollywood defeated Castle Park, 9-0. Brandon Ortega and Michael Rincover each had two hits. Alex Sepulveda picked up the win. New Community Jewish defeated King Chavez, 10-5.

Woodcrest Christian improved to 6-2 with an 8-0 win over Riverside Prep.

In Las Vegas, Chatsworth was beaten by Basic, 2-1. Daniel Zakosek had two hits in Chasworth’s 9-1 win over Durango.

Banning was beaten by Las Vegas Centennial, 3-0. Justin Yanez had a one-hitter into the bottom of the sixth for Banning.

Fulton Prep defeated Dorsey, 6-5. Christian Leyva threw a complete game. Jojo Reyes had two hits.
