Baseball: Ben Kaser lifts Cleveland past El Camino Real, 1-0
Junior pitcher Ben Kaser threw a two-hitter and Sam Villa came through with a squeeze bunt in the fourth inning to help Reseda Cleveland knock off El Camino Real, 1-0, in a West Valley League game. Jeremy Polon, a sophomore, allowed only two hits for El Camino Real.
Chatsworth pulled into a first-place tie with El Camino Real by defeating Granada Hills, 15-7. Both are 4-1. The Chancellors scored 12 runs in the sixth inning to wipe out a 5-3 deficit, highlighted by a grand slam from Garrett Kueber. Sam Shaikin, Jeryd Reuss and Anthony Mayorga each had three hits. Justin Castaneda had three hits for Granada Hills.
Taft picked up a 5-4 victory over Birmingham on a two-run walk-off home run by Jordan Abushahla.
In the East Valley League, Chavez defeated Poly, 3-2. North Hollywood defeated Grant, 12-0. Andrew Marmor threw the shutout. Eddie Torres had three hits and Tyson Turner had four stolen bases, giving him 32 on the season.
