Baseball: Glendora gets two-game sweep of Ayala in Palomares League

Austin Isenhart threw a two-hit shutout to lift Glendora past Ayala, 5-0, on Friday in a Palomares League game. It completed a two-game sweep of Ayala, which entered the week in first place.
Griffen Herrera blasted a two-run home run in the first inning. Herrera, Alex Briggs and Race Gardner finished with two hits apiece. Glendora moved within one game of first place. South Hills defeated Bonita, 4-3, to pull into a first-place tie with Ayala.
In the Trinity League, Santa Margarita defeated Mater Dei, 4-1. Nick Plaskett had a two-run double in the first inning. Brian Gursky got the win and Conner Hilburn the save. Servite defeated St. John Bosco, 7-4. JSerra defeated Orange Lutheran, 3-1. Jack Owen and Jake Pries combined on a four-hitter. Royce Lewis had two hits. JSerra and Santa Margarita are tied for first at 4-2.
Brett Conine struck out 10, walked none and allowed three hits in El Modena’s 1-0 win over Villa Park.
In the Inland Valley League, Arlington (15-3, 8-0) scored two runs in the seventh to defeat JW North, 6-5.
In the Marmonte League, Jon Keller of Calabasas allowed four hits and inflicted a rare league defeat on first-place Agoura, 2-1. Grant Nechak had two hits. Westlake defeated Oaks Christian, 8-0. Eddie Kutt had two hits and three RBI. Daniel Davanzo allowed two hits in 5 1/3 innings. Newbury Park defeated Thousand Oaks, 2-1. Thomas Ponticelli struck out four and walked none.
In the Sunset League, Huntington Beach defeated Los Alamitos, 8-0. Cooper Moore had two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Noah Davis threw the shutout. Fountain Valley defeated Edison, 4-3. The Barons have won nine of their last 10 games. Sophomore Travis Burleson, who became eligible on April 6, has provided a big boost. He has two wins, a save and is batting .350.
In the Mission League, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (16-5, 5-3) defeated Chaminade, 5-3. A five-run third inning featured a two-run double by Jake Hirabayashi and a two-run single by Joe Pace. Deandre Carter got the save by throwing the final 1 2/3 innings. Loyola defeated St. Francis, 5-0. Henry Stellwagen threw six shutout innings. Awari Muoneke had two hits and two RBI.
Cypress defeated Tustin, 8-2. James Acuna allowed no earned runs in six innings. Dominic Fletcher hit two home runs. Cypress won its sixth consecutive game.
Jake Mahood threw a complete game in El Dorado’s 5-3 win over Yorba Linda. He has 44 strikeouts and just four walks in 49 innings.
In the Southwestern League, Great Oak defeated Chaparral, 5-1. Zack Noll struck out nine in five innings and Brandon Stewart had two hits and two RBI. Vista Murrieta defeated Murrieta Valley, 11-0. Freshman Jake Moberg had three hits and three RBI. Brother Jack Moberg threw five shutout innings.
In the Foothill League, Hart continued its surge with a 7-2 win over Valencia. Paul Richan struck out seven in six innings. Jack Ralson had three hits. Austin Russ hit a two-run home run. West Ranch defeated Golden Valley, 8-3. Saugus defeated Canyon, 6-1. Caden Salkeld had two hits.
In the Bay League, Trevor Franklin improved to 8-0 in Mira Costa’s 6-3 win over Peninsula. He also had an RBI double.
In the Baseline League, Etiwanda defeated Damien, 6-4. Kyle Isbel hit a grand slam and Jason Wallace had a two-run home run. Chino Hills defeated Upland, 5-1. Trevor Walker threw the complete game. Brett Borgogno had three hits. Los Osos defeated Rancho Cucamonga, 13-8. Zack Cooper had three hits and three RBI.
Beckman defeated University, 8-3. Adam Lamar allowed five hits. Matt McLain had a double and single.
In the Coastal Canyon League, Camarillo (17-2, 8-0) defeated Royal, 3-0, behind pitcher Jonny Nishimori. Simi Valley defeated Oak Park, 5-1. Turner Nelson had two hits and two RBI.
In the Crestview League, Esperanza picked up a 6-5, eight-inning win over Brea. Dennis Hildebrandt had two hits and two RBI.
In the South Coast League, El Toro defeated Capistrano Valley, 4-3. Sean Skelly had two hits and two RBI. Tesoro defeated Aliso Niguel, 2-1.
Mission Viejo (18-7, 6-0) defeated San Juan Hills, 2-0, to win its eighth consecutive game in a Sea View League game.
Campbell Hall defeated Crossroads, 7-3. RJ Collins threw a complete game. Jamis DeKay had three RBI.
In the Channel League, Dos Pueblos scored two runs in the sixth to defeat Santa Barbara, 3-2. Colter Nisbet doubled in the tying run.
In the Tri-Valley League, Darius Vines had two hits in St. Bonaventure’s 5-1 win over Grace Brethren.
In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Burbank, 5-1. Danny Bustos struck out four and allowed one run in six innings. Chris Peres had two hits. Crescenta Valley defeated Arcadia, 9-0. Brian Gadsby threw the shutout, striking out six while walking none and giving up two hits.
In the Moore League, Long Beach Wilson defeated Long Beach Millikan, 1-0. Zach Pettway and Cole Leaf combined on a four-hitter. Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Jordan, 6-5.
In the San Gabriel Valley League, Downey defeated Warren, 2-0. Lawrence Arrona threw the shutout. Jacob Cook drove in both runs with a double.
