Clayton Kershaw said he and the Dodgers haven’t started talking about a long-term contract extension.

The Dodgers are expected to discuss the idea with Kershaw before the start of spring training.

“We’ll see,†Kershaw said. “I don’t have any expectations.â€

Kershaw is under contract this year for $11 million. He will be eligible for free agency after the 2014 season.

Kershaw and his wife, Ellen, attended Manager Don Mattingly’s charity event Thursday night at the Sports Museum of Los Angeles.

Kershaw said he has already started throwing off the mound and that the hip that bothered him last season hasn’t presented any problems.

“After the last two starts, I felt fine,†he said. “It was never a problem for me.â€

Nonetheless, Kershaw is taking precautions by strengthening the area.

Kershaw and his wife returned this winter to Zambia, where they opened an orphanage. Kershaw raised money for the project last season.
