PHOENIX – Chad Billingsley bruised the index finger of his pitching hand and isn’t certain he will make his scheduled start Tuesday.
Billingsley was hit in the hand in batting practice Friday. X-rays were negative.
“It’s all right,” Billingsley said. “I think I’ll live. I get to keep the finger.”
Billingsley has continued to play catch.
“The control’s not there,” he said.
The minor injury isn’t expected to affect Billingsley’s status for the start of the regular season.
The Dodgers are hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday at Camelback Ranch. Carl Crawford will lead off for the second consecutive day. Outfield prospect Yasiel Puig will have the day off.
