Tim Wallach, Lorenzo Bundy join Barry Bonds on Don Mattingly’s Marlins staff
Tim Wallach and Lorenzo Bundy are following Don Mattingly to Florida, where they will join Barry Bonds on the Florida Marlins’ coaching staff..
Wallach and Bundy were part of Mattingly’s staff with the Dodgers. Their appointments were announced by the Marlins on Friday.
Bonds will be the hitting coach.
Wallach, who was interviewed for the Dodgers’ managerial position that ultimately went to Dave Roberts, will be Mattingly’s bench coach.
Wallach held the same position with the Dodgers the last two years. In the three seasons before that, Wallach was the Dodgers’ third base coach. Former Oakland Athletics manager Bob Geren is the Dodgers’ new bench coach.
Bundy will be the Marlins’ baserunning and outfield coach. He was the Dodgers’ third base coach until August, when he was replaced by Ron Roenicke. Bundy remained with the team for the remainder of the season as an outfield coach.
Bonds, 51, has no coaching experience. However, he is baseball’s career home run leader with 762 and a seven-time National League most valuable player.

Bonds was indicted on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice in 2007, during a federal investigation of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO). The perjury charges were dropped, but he was convicted of obstruction of justice.
An appellate court upheld the conviction in 2013, but the decision was reversed earlier this year.
