Dodgers’ Brett Anderson continues to battle the elements

REPORTING FROM SAN FRANCISCO — Brett Anderson reflected on his start Wednesday night with a sense of amazement.

“Crazy,” he said.

Not his performance, which was solid but not particularly noteworthy.

He was talking about the weather.

In the early innings of the 4-0 defeat to the San Francisco Giants, Anderson pitched in a heavy mist.

Anderson pitched in rain in his previous two starts.

“If there’s a drought somewhere, I need to go there -- Sahara, Mojave,” Anderson joked.

Los Angeles?

“Already done that,” he said.

That was in his previous start, when he was limited to 5 1/3 innings at Dodger Stadium because of a rain delay that lasted nearly an hour and a half.

In his start before that one, he pitched a five-inning complete game in a rain-shortened victory in Colorado.

“If you need some rain, send me there for a couple days and it’s bound to happen at this point,” he said.

Anderson said he was relatively pleased with how he pitched Wednesday night.

He threw a season-high 112 pitches and pitched into the seventh inning for the first time this year. He was charged with three runs and six hits over 6 1/3 innings.

“My stuff was pretty good,” he said.
