Arizona Diamondbacks are reportedly pursuing Zack Greinke

Apparently into the Zack Greinke sweepstakes is a late, unexpected suitor -- the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Greinke was reportedly down to the Dodgers and Giants, but this would hardly be the first time some team came in at the last minute on a big-name free agent and swept him up. Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Friday afternoon that Arizona is now pursuing the right-hander.
The Diamondbacks normally have a mid-range payroll and shy clear of lengthy, steep contracts with free agents. They could, however, be trying to make a splash. They unveiled new uniforms Friday and have a new $1.5-billion TV contract kicking in next season.
The Dodgers losing Greinke to the Diamondbacks would not be quite the blow as losing him to the rival Giants, but it’s at least in the neighborhood. The Diamondbacks see themselves as a Dodgers rival and they are in the same division.
The Diamondbacks reportedly made a six-year, $120-million offer to Johnny Cueto last week that the right-hander turned down.
