The Clippers were becoming a complete team — until another injury jumped on them.

Clippers forward Paul Pierce stayed in Los Angeles to recover from right ankle and right knee injuries he suffered during Monday night’s game against Boston at Staples Center.

Pierce missed the two-game trip to Minnesota on Wednesday night and Oklahoma City on Thursday night.

“We don’t know if this is a long thing,†Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said. “I don’t think it is. Hopefully, he’s not out for more than a week. I don’t really know that to say that.â€

The Clippers had just announced that Blake Griffin would return to play Sunday when they host the Washington Wizards.

Griffin was medically cleared to play last weekend, but he must complete a team-imposed four-game suspension for punching a Clippers assistant equipment manager.

Griffin last played on Christmas. He sat out because of a broken right hand and a partially torn left quadriceps.

“We get Blake back on Sunday and you were hoping we could have our whole team for a change,†Rivers said. “Now that’s not going to happen.â€
