KEY MOMENT: Ernesto Frieri tried to “stay down and away†with a 1-and-2 fastball to Nick Swisher in the 10th inning, but the Angels reliever “left the ball up.†Swisher lined it over the right-field wall for a grand slam, turning a 3-1 Indians deficit into a walk-off victory.

AT THE PLATE: The Angels rallied with two outs in the top of the 10th when Kole Calhoun singled, Mike Trout doubled to extend his hitting streak to 13 games and Albert Pujols hit a two-run single for a 3-1 lead. Howie Kendrick doubled to right-center, took third on a grounder and scored on a wild pitch in the second. The Angels had runners on first and third with two outs in the eighth, but Josh Hamilton struck out on a Cody Allen 96-mph fastball.

ON THE MOUND: Both starters were superb, Angels left-hander C.J. Wilson allowing one run and three hits, striking out six and walking four, in seven innings, and Indians right-hander Justin Masterson allowing one run and four hits, striking out five and walking three, in seven innings.

ON THE BASES: Hamilton walked to open the fourth but failed to advance on a pitch that bounced in the dirt and squirted 10 feet behind catcher Yan Gomes. Erick Aybar grounded a single to center, a hit that would have scored Hamilton from second. With two on and no outs, Hamilton failed to read Cleveland right fielder Ryan Raburn’s shoe-string catch of Kendrick’s tailing line drive and was doubled off second.

UP NEXT: Right-hander Garrett Richards (6-2, 2.87 ERA) will oppose Texas left-hander Joe Saunders (0-2, 3.46 ERA) at Angel Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. On the air: TV: FS West; Radio: 830.
