Pacific Symphony adds two musicians
The Pacific Symphony recently added two string players to its ranks, according to a news release.
Chloe Chiu joined the second violins, and Victor de Almeida is now a member of the viola section.
Chiu, born in Taiwan, also plays with the Santa Barbara Symphony and is studying at USC for her graduate program certificate. She has also studied at the National University of Singapore and the Peabody Institute.
De Almeida, a Peabody Institute graduate born in Australia, is a member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the orchestra that performs during Laguna Beach’s annual Pageant of the Masters. He is a former violist for the Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Annapolis symphony orchestras.
De Almeida is married to fellow Pacific Symphony violist, Carolyn Riley, and is the son of Pacific Symphony cellist Waldemar de Almeida.
