Fountain Valley police are looking for two men who shot and injured two people early Thursday.
Officers responded to the 16300 block of Everest Circle at about 12:40 a.m. after receiving a report of fireworks or gunshots in the area. However, they did not find evidence of an incident there, police said.
About 40 minutes later, dispatchers told officers that two people with gunshot wounds had arrived in the emergency room at a local hospital, police said.
According to an initial investigation, four men were talking on Everest Circle after leaving work. Two men approached, pointed handguns at them and told them to empty their pockets. Quickly afterward, the gunmen shot at the group, hitting two of the men, police said.
The wounded were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Fountain Valley police at (714) 593-4485.
