RIVERSIDE — The host Lancers scored in the third minute and held on in a battle of Golden State Athletic Confernce unbeatens Tuesday.

Vanguard (8-1-1, 3-1 in conference), ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, had seven shots, less than one-third the total posted by the No. 5-ranked Lancers’ (22).

COSTA MESA — Jamie Heenan had 18 kills and Lisa Morgan had 17 for the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference match Tuesday.

No. 14-ranked Point Loma won, 18-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-22, 15-13.

KaUwila Lavea had 10 kills, Morgan had 24 digs, Ariel Strickler had 21 digs and Alexandra Leja had 49 assists for Vanguard (10-8, 2-7 in conference).
