SANTA ANA — Laurel Hinson and Claire Woodside swept at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively for the Eagles in their Orange Coast League match at Santa Ana Valley Thursday.

Erin O’Neil and Christy Brown swept at No. 1 doubles, while Kelly Peterson and Kiley Carpenter did the same at No. 2 doubles for Estancia (4-5, 1-1 in league), which plays host to Saddleback Tuesday.

Huntington Beach 4

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Natalie Cernius swept at No. 2 singles, dropping just one game to help lead the Sailors to a Sunset League-opening win Thursday.

No. 3 singles player Lauren Conway swept and dropped only five games for Newport Harbor (9-2, 1-0 in league).

Megan Bathen and Mindy Wheeler didn’t lose any games in two sets before being substituted out.

CORONA DEL MAR — Morgan McVey had a big 6-3 win over Timberwolves’ No. 1 singles player Courtney Pattugalan in the Pacific Coast League opener Thursday.

Piper Bledsoe and Mackenzie Ludlow won 7-5, 6-1 in doubles for the Sea Kings (6-2, 1-0 in league).

SANTA ANA — Hunter Strodel and Raquel Friedmann finished second and fourth respectively to lead the Costa Mesa High girls to third place Thursday at Centennial Park.

Strodel finished in 19 minutes, 59 seconds, and Friedmann in 20:10. Robert Blackwell finished second in 16:10 to lead the Mesa boys to fourth.
