BOYS’ TENNIS

Fountain Valley 12, Camarillo 6

Justin Nguyen swept at No. 1 singles for the Barons in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs Friday at home.

Eric Tadros and Jason Tran swept at No. 1 doubles for Fountain Valley, which will play either top-seeded Yorba Linda or Windward in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Sage Hill 12, Valencia 6

VALENCIA — Ian Huang, Emin Torlic and Rohun Krishnan swept in singles for the Lightning on Friday in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.

Adam Langevin and Robert Gerschultz won twice in doubles for third-seeded Sage Hill, which plays the Great Oak vs. San Marcos winner in the Division 2 quarterfinals on Monday.

Newport Harbor 11, Walnut 7

WALNUT — Freshman Max McKennon swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for the Sailors in Friday’s CIF Southern Section Division 2 second-round playoff match.

Mark Schaefer and Sam Leaman swept in doubles, while David Lee won two out of three in singles for the Sailors.

No. 4-seeded Newport Harbor will play the Dana Hills vs. King winner in the Division 2 quarterfinals on Monday.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

CIF Southern Section Division 2 preliminaries

RIVERSIDE — Laguna Beach’s Kasey Karkoska qualified sixth for finals in the 100-yard backstroke and ninth in the 100 butterfly Friday at Riverside City College.

Karkoska swam a 56.50 in the backstroke, and a 55.85 in the butterfly.

Laguna Beach’s Kyla Whitlock qualified 15th in the 50 free in 24.85, and Ella Judd qualified 15th in the 500 free in 5:06.24. The Breakers’ 200 medley relay and 400 free relay also qualified for consolation finals.

The Division 2 finals are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Riverside City College.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

CIF Southern Section Division 2 preliminaries

RIVERSIDE — Sage Hill sophomore Jason Schreiber qualified seventh in both the boys’ 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke Friday at Riverside City College.

Schreiber lowered his school records in the IM (1:54.44) and breast (58.35).

Sage Hill senior Taras Polakoff qualified 14th in the 100 backstroke, in 52.83, to lower his school record. Estancia’s Cobi White also qualified for the consolation finals in the 50 free after tying for 16th in 21.89.

The Division 2 finals are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Riverside City College.
