High School Roundup: Sea Kings earn second round victory against San Clemente

SAN CLEMENTE — Patrick Paragas amassed 37 assists in the No. 3-seeded Sea Kings’ 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 sweep in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on the road Thursday.

Brandon Browning and Clay Dickinson each had 12 kills for CdM.

The Sea Kings (28-3) play host to Laguna Beach (20-4) in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Laguna Beach def. Mater Dei

Pete Obradovich finished with 16 kills in the host Breakers’ 25-23, 24-26, 25-18, 25-10 win in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Thursday.

Laguna Beach’s Sam Burgi and Josh McManus added 13 kills apiece.

The Breakers (20-4) advanced to the quarterfinals for the 21st straight time. They play at No. 3 Corona del Mar (28-3) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Huntington Beach def. Burroughs

The Oilers advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-12 sweep at home on Thursday.

Huntington (24-10) plays at No. 2-seeded Oak Park (35-3) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Beckman def. Edison

The visiting Patriots won 25-23, 23-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-8 in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs on Thursday.

Edison ends the year at 18-13.
