High School Roundup: CdM defeats San Clemente in boys’ tennis

Kyle Pham swept at No. 1 singles for the Sea Kings in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Tuesday on the road.
Diego Fernandez del Valle won twice in singles, as did Matt Paulsen and John Hart at No. 1 doubles.
CdM plays host to Cypress in the second round Friday.
Sage Hill 17, Culver City 1
The No. 3-seeded Lightning eased to a win Wednesday in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs.
Sage Hill plays in the second round Friday.

CIF Southern Section Division 4 preliminaries
RIVERSIDE — Ocean View sophomore Dominic Falcon qualified first in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events Wednesday morning at Riverside City College.
Falcon’s times were 1:43.98 in the 200 free, and 4:39.80 in the 500 free.
The Ocean View 200 medley relay team of Thomas Powell-Horan, Nico Falcon, Dominic Falcon and Peter Carlson also qualified first, in 1:44.34.
The Division 4 finals are Friday at Riverside City College, beginning at 5 p.m.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
CIF Southern Section Division 4 preliminaries
RIVERSIDE — Ocean View’s 200-medley relay team qualified sixth Wednesday morning at Riverside City College.
Emma Fisher, Kiara Abascal, Leyna Tran and Sydney Sullivan touched in 2:03.70.
Fisher, a sophomore, also qualified seventh in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.38.
The Division 4 finals are Friday at Riverside City College, beginning at 5 p.m.
