COSTA MESA — Freshman outside hitter Karlee Riggs recorded 20 kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-16, 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 Orange Empire Conference win Wednesday night.
Dana Nicholson posted eight of OCC’s 16 aces. Andi Frisina added four aces to go along with her 12 digs, while Nicholson matched Frisina with 12 digs as well for the Pirates (10-2, 4-1 in conference). Setter Allison Lumsden dished out 37 assists for Coast, while middle blocker Morgan Link contributed nine kills.
Kelsey Mersey had 14 kills for the Chargers (7-8, 3-3).
OCC plays host to Fullerton Friday at 6 p.m.

IRVINE — The Aggies overcame a one-goal deficit to upset the No. 7-ranked Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Wednesday.
Kevin Schulte scored the second of his two goals in the 99th minute for the game-winner off an assist from John Joslin.
Lester Hayes III scored in the 28th minute on a breakaway for UCI (12-4, 4-2 in conference). Tarek Morad’s header got the scoring play started and Christian Hernandez assisted on the goal.
Anteaters goalie Andrew Fontein had six saves. UC Davis and UCI both had 14 shots.
Freshman Brian Ford, a Corona del Mar High product, is a starter for the Aggies (6-6-2, 4-2).

COSTA MESA — Carlos Garcia-Partida scored his fifth game-winner of the season in the 50th minute for the No. 11-ranked Cougars in the key Golden State Athletic Conference game Wednesday.
The No. 22-ranked Lions (10-5, 4-2 in conference) matched APU (10-2-1, 4-1-1) on shots, 11-11. Goalie Cody Adams had two saves for Vanguard.
