NEWPORT BEACH — Seniors Alex Aiello and Riley Mathies swept at love at No. 3 doubles for the Sailors in their Sunset League match Tuesday.

Lauren Conway swept at No. 3 singles, dropping only three games for Newport (10-2, 2-0 in league).

The Sailors, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division II, play against Los Alamitos Thursday at 3 p.m. at Seal Beach Tennis Center.

SANTA ANA — Alex Krohnfeldt had 12 kills to help lead the Mustangs to a 25-8, 25-20, 25-17 Orange Coast League-opening win Tuesday.

Shannon Walters had 10 kills, Nikki Lether had 12 digs, Sami Feinstein had 22 assists and Amanda Moore had seven kills for Costa Mesa (3-3, 1-0 in league).

NEWPORT COAST — Natasha Sakraney had 11 kills and nine digs to help lead the Lightning to a 25-19, 25-20, 25-18 Academy League-opening win Tuesday.

Zoe Kreitenberg had nine kills and three aces, while Maggie Danner had 10 kills and three aces for Sage Hill (4-11, 1-0 in league).

COSTA MESA – Freshman Chloe Davis had four kills and five digs for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League opener Tuesday.

The Breakers won, 25-8, 25-5, 25-10.

COSTA MESA – Seniors Stephanie Storch and Megan Case scored two goals each for the Sailors in the Sunset League game Tuesday at Harper Community School.

Sophomore Jane Layton scored a goal, while Sydney King had two saves on the only two shots the Newport Harbor defense allowed.

The Sailors (8-2, 1-1 in league) play at Edison Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
