Corona del Mar High senior wide receiver Bradley Schlom said he committed to the UCLA football program as a preferred walk-on player on Tuesday night.

Schlom becomes the fourth member of the Sea Kings offense to commit to a Pac-12 school. Quarterback Ethan Garbers and tight end Mark Redman have signed with the University of Washington, while receiver John Humphreys committed to Stanford.

“That will be awesome, just make more memories, [and] hopefully get to play against them and just compete,†Schlom said of the chance to face his high school teammates at the next level. “That will be really cool.â€

Schlom made 91 catches for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns this season in helping CdM go undefeated at 16-0. He shared the Sunset League Offensive Player of the Year award with Redman, and he made the Daily Pilot Dream Team first team and the All-Orange County third team.

The Sea Kings defeated Simi Valley Grace Brethren 56-28 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 title game at Newport Harbor High. CdM also beat San Mateo Serra 35-27 in the CIF State Division 1-A championship game at Cerritos College.

UCLA went 4-8 overall and 4-5 in the Pac-12 last season, finishing third among teams in the Pac-12 South.

Schlom, a 5-foot-11, 175-pounder, said that he picked UCLA with proximity to home in mind, as well as the bond that he has formed with Bruins wide receivers coach Jimmie Dougherty.

“Just the location, the weather, the whole coaching staff,†Schlom said of his deciding factors. “I have a great relationship with Coach Dougherty there, the receivers coach.

“Everything they have to offer in the football program, from the strength side, speed, and the offense they run. I feel like I fit in there.â€
