Breakdown: The stakes could not be higher as Newport Harbor hosts Edison in a Sunset League finale at Davidson Field … Four teams remain in contention for the presumptive three automatic playoff berths in the six-team league … The Chargers (6-3, 3-1 in league), ranked No. 6 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3 poll, still have an outside shot at sharing the league championship. A win over the Sailors (7-2, 2-2) combined with a Los Alamitos (4-5, 3-1) win over Corona del Mar (9-0, 4-0) on Friday would forge a three-way tie atop the league … The Sailors, ranked No. 4 in Division 9, could also wind up in a three-way tie for second with a win and a Los Alamitos loss. Coin flips will be performed following the CdM-Los Alamitos game in the fore-mentioned scenarios to determine the order of league seeding … Newport Harbor would secure the league’s third seed with a win and a Los Alamitos win, by virtue of a head-to-head tiebreaker … Sailors coach Peter Lofthouse said that his team could go with a quarterback-by-committee approach if Cole Lavin (knee) and Nick Kim (ankle) are unable to play. Lofthouse said that Lavin is doubtful, while Kim is a game-time decision ... Newport Harbor last made the postseason in 2014.
