Woman killed in Irvine car crash
Authorities have identified a 22-year-old woman killed in Tuesday afternoon’s car crash in Irvine.
Elizabeth Eddleman of Irvine died in a collision at the intersection of University Drive and Rosa Drew Lane, according to information posted on the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s website Wednesday.
Eddleman was driving a two-door 2010 BMW that collided with a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer driven by a 26-year-old Corona del Mar woman, said Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen.
An investigation is ongoing and police were still trying to determine which of the two drivers had the right-of-way when the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Engen said.
According to the Sheriff-Coroner’s website, Eddleman died at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday.
The SUV’s driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Engen said.
Two other vehicles were impacted by the collision, but there were no other injuries.
A toxicology report to determine if alcohol or other substances were involved in the crash will take a few weeks, Engen said.
Anyone who witnessed the crash should call Sgt. Dennis Maisano at (949) 724-7023.
