Three arrested after police chase through Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach police arrested a man and two women on suspicion of burglary at the Huntington Central Park Sports Complex last week following a pursuit that ended in Fountain Valley.
Laquanda Shancrell Howard, 32, was arrested July 6 on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and reckless evading of a police officer in a vehicle. Shameka Pace, 31, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.
Brandon Nicholas Manning, 19, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, resisting arrest and several felony warrants from Florida, Lt. Russell Reinhart said. All the suspects are from Florida.
About 9:42 p.m., a witness saw someone breaking the window of a car at the sports complex at 18002 Goldenwest St. and reported two vehicles leaving the scene. One of the cars was not involved in the incident.
The suspects were driving the other, a gold Chevrolet Tahoe, Reinhart said. Police later found items belonging to three vehicles that were broken into at the sports complex in the Tahoe, which was rented by the suspects.
A parking control officer spotted the Tahoe making several quick turns to get away, Reinhart said. A police helicopter directed officers on the ground as the vehicle drove erratically through a neighborhood.
Officers eventually had to spin the car around to get it to stop at Brookhurst Street and Warner Avenue, Reinhart said. Manning jumped out of the car and was pursued on foot by officers, while Howard and Pace remained in the car. All were later booked at the city jail.
