Youth shelter raises record funds
Community Service Programs’ Huntington Beach Youth Shelter set a new fundraising record with its Change for Change drive, a twice-annual fundraiser in which it sets containers around town and invites passersby to donate coins.
The shelter next to the Huntington Beach Central Library netted $16,475.18 in donations, community relations coordinator Alyssa Menicke said.
More than two dozen businesses and schools around town, including the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, the Meadowlark Golf Club and Curves, set out containers for two months leading up to the shelter’s open house June 14.
“What an inspiration it has been watching our community unite together to help assist at-risk adolescence,†Menicke said in a release. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your partnership and support.â€
