Police arrest driver after pedestrian hit at Aliso Beach
A pedestrian was left severely injured after a suspected drunk driver hit him at Aliso Beach on Monday, Laguna Beach Police said.
Officers responded at 7:35 p.m. and found the victim in the road with blood coming from his head. They gave aid immediately.
The 23-year-old Los Angeles resident, whose identify has not been released, was taken to Mission Hospital Mission Viejo with severe injuries.
He was taken into emergency surgery upon arrival, Special Investigations Officer Robert Rahaeuser said.
Michael David Ash, 31, from Los Angeles was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving with bodily injury. He had one prior DUI conviction in 2005. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
