City survey says Newport residents are happy
City officials in Newport Beach, like other places, often say their residents are happy.
Now they have some numbers to back up the claims.
The city released results of a “Citizen Satisfaction Survey†this week that showed residents generally satisfied (92%) with the quality of life there.
When drilling down, there are a few areas of relative discontent: traffic flow (67%); the quality of the city’s cable channel (NBTV) programming (51%), and enforcing the cleanup of debris on private property (65%).
But officials saw some big improvements since the last survey in 2007. Satisfaction with the city’s website increased from 52% in 2007 to 69% in 2010.
The library and emergency medical services were the most popular in 2010 (96% and 95% satisfaction, respectively).
“Even during these challenging economic times, we continue to set and increase the gold standard among cities,†said Mayor Keith Curry in a press release.
