Local fire departments to host open houses
In recognition of Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 3-9, the Newport Beach and Costa Mesa fire departments will host open houses at some of their fire stations in consecutive weekends.
On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Newport Bach firefighters will offer tours of the Lido Fire Station, 475 32nd St., and the Newport Center Fire Station, 868 Santa Barbara Drive. Guests can take tours of the station, the firetrucks and engines. There will be education presentations on fire safety.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme from the National Fire Protection Assn. is “Smoke Alarms: A sound you can live with!†with firefighters encouraging people to help protect their homes with fire alarms.
