Barbara Munroe Applebury died May 18, 2010, in Fullerton after a long illness. She was with her beloved husband John Applebury. She is now at peace in heaven.

Barbie Munroe was born in Pasadena in 1953 and enjoyed an active childhood full of love, music, art, sailing, tennis, water sports and skiing. She was popular in school and loved to entertain her friends and family. She attended Corona del Mar High School after her family moved to Balboa Island where they had always summered.

As a young adult, Barbie faced limitations due to a mental illness which altered the course of her life. She built a new life with the benefit of caregivers in assisted living residences in the Santa Ana area. While there she met and then married John C. Applebury in 1998. Barbara and John loved each other very much and enjoyed favorite places and many outings in their life together in Orange County. John always called Barbie “Barbara†because she was a lady, and Barbara was a beautiful name for a lady.
