Joan Reese, a 33-year resident of Tustin, left us to be with the Lord on April 13, 2010.She was 74.

Joan was born June 14, 1935, to Martha and Bill Crull of Geneva, Ill. She grew up in Geneva, and during her high school years, attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Mass. She went on to Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and that is where she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Reese. They married Dec. 20, 1955. The couple settled back in Geneva, where they raised their children, Deborah, Rob and Willy. They were also longstanding members of the Geneva Golf Club.

In 1977, they relocated to Tustin, where some of their closest friends, Maureen and John Younkin resided. Joan was an active member of the Tustin Garden Club and the Tustin Hills Racquet Club. She also enjoyed playing “Popcorn Bridge†with a group of close friends for many years. Joan loved her family and friends dearly, and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining guests in her home, especially holidays. Joan’s warm and gentle character was contagious. Over the years, Joan’s parents, mother-in-law, sister’s family and many others relocated to Tustin in large part due to Joan’s positive influence and caring nature. Joan and Bob also spent many months in their second home in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Her grandchildren include Morgan, Willy, Michael and Dylan Reese, and Brandon and Connor Behun. She thoroughly enjoyed attending their performances in concerts, spelling bees, ice hockey, water polo, swimming, soccer, lacrosse and more. She was proud of them all, and it meant so much to her to be an active part of her family. She is survived by her husband, Bob Reese, her sister Tippy Sheppard of Tustin, sons Willy Reese and Rob Reese, daughter Deborah Reese Behun, and six grandsons. There was a beautiful service held in her honor on April 19, 2010, at the Church of the Foothills in Tustin.
