Four men facing charges in shooting
A Costa Mesa man and his three accused accomplices can stand trial on charges of attempting to kill a teenage girl in a 2008 shooting, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Salvador Burciaga, 20, Cesar Pedroza, 19, Nestor Lopez, 17, and Oscar Ramos, 16, are charged with attempted murder and other gang-related charges and enhancements related to the shooting of a 15-year-old girl on Shalimar Drive on July 28, 2008.
Over three days of testimony, prosecutors showed a judge there was probable cause that these were the four men responsible for the shooting. Police said Pedroza drove a white sedan into the Shalimar neighborhood with Burciaga in the passenger seat, armed with a shotgun. After pulling onto the street, Burciaga got out, ran to a group of people down the street and fired one round at the female victim, prosecutors claim.
All the men were arrested about a week later.
Police testified that the men were looking for their suspected gang’s “enemies†that day.
The four are scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 25.
