Candle starts fire at rental business
Firefighters responded to a blaze sparked by a candle Monday at a Costa Mesa business.
About 8:50 p.m., 21 firefighters rushed to Red-E-Rentals, 2075 Harbor Blvd., a tool rental company, where smoke and flames were seen pluming from a small shed at the rear of the business.
Within five minutes, firefighters arrived and broke through a locked gate to reach the blaze in the back, Battalion Chief William Kershaw said in a news release.
The flames were quickly extinguished. Investigators concluded that a candle started the blaze.
