The mother of Luke, a Newport Harbor High School student, called Community Animal Network, asking for help rescuing four kittens.

The family grew to love the black female kitten named Bubba; Shia, the torti-point Siamese; and the two tortoiseshell kittens named Sweetie and Tweetie, whose tiny lives are at risk.

The problem with helping to rescue the four kittens is that Community Animal Network needs $480 to pull the litter from the county shelter.

“Shelter rescue is costly. Money can save so many lives, but we just don’t have the funds to help now,� says DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, the founder of the organization.

“In addition we have to consider budgeting approximately $300 or more for veterinary costs.�
