Ralph Leonard Young, born June 27, 1923 in Pittsburgh,

Pa., died July 19 in Newport Beach, Calif., of natural causes.

He served in World War II as a lieutenant in the United

States Marine Corp, later graduating with a master’s degree

in journalism from University of Pittsburgh. He worked as

an editor for various newspapers, including serving as news

editor for the Daily Pilot and the Los Angeles Times Orange

County edition, as well as an information of3 cer for the

California Department of Fish & Game.

He is survived by his children, John Young, Richard Young,

Kerry Young, Virginia Infante and Tim Landy, as well as

four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. There will

be a memorial for him at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at Elks

Lodge 1767, 3456 Via Oporto, Newport Beach. In lieu of

> owers, the family requests donations be made in his name

to the Elks Lodge1767, for the lodge’s charitable activities.
