My Favorite Pet that I Rescued

I lost my dearest friend in August of 2008 – a Basset Hound named Stoney. She was 14 years old. I was heartbroken and didn’t think I would ever recover. I cried until there were no more tears. But then Bella came to me in October of 2008. She was found on the streets shortly after giving birth to a litter of puppies. No word on where the puppies might be… she was a very frightened little girl that had suffered a botched spay surgery while in the shelter. Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California (bhrsc.info) got her out of there and brought her to me to be fostered while she recovered… but she stole my broken heart, and within 2 days I was smitten and decided to adopt her. Bella officially became my girl on October 25th, 2008. Since then, Bella has become my constant companion. We go many places together. She’s in obedience training and is a star in her class. She’s also working toward her Canine Good Citizen certification. She’s an artist (tail painting), a singer (she howls), and she loves to play fetch, get belly rubs and play with children. She’s a sweet & loving little thing, and I’m so happy to have her in my life. Although technically, I rescued her; the real story is that she rescued me, just as my dear Stoney had done many years before. Adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue group – it will change your life, and give a homeless pet a second chance at life!
