Celebrate Fourth with city and school
The city of Newport Beach and the Mariners Elementary School Foundation will host the 37th annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration on July 4 at Mariners Park, 1300 Irvine Ave.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. with City Manager Homer Bludau serving as grand marshal. Parade participants will line up at the corner of Commodore Road and Mariners Drive before the start of the event.
The celebration will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Mariners Park with free entertainment, face painting, arts and crafts. There will be food and wristbands available for purchase for those who want to participate in games and special attractions.
This year’s attractions include a rock climbing wall, bungee run, 28-foot slide, obstacle course, carnival attractions and a toddler area. Wristbands cost $15 and $10 for children younger than 5 and can be purchased in advance or at the event. To pre-purchase wristbands, visit www.marinersfoundation.com by Tuesday.
