Costa Mesa police seek bank robber
Police are looking for a masked gunman who took over a Costa Mesa bank Wednesday afternoon.
About 3 p.m. a man carrying a gun and wearing a ski mask walked into Bank of America, 548 W. 19th St., and demanded two tellers empty their drawers, authorities said.
The robber approached the teller closest to the door exit and handed her a brown paper bag and ordered her to fill it with cash, officials said. After she complied, he moved on to the second teller and repeated the demand, authorities said.
The robber left on foot, police said. Hours after the robbery, authorities had still made no arrests.
FBI officials described the robber as a white male between 25 and 30 years old, 5-foot-6 with a small build and wearing a black jacket with a beige T-shirt underneath. Police said he was also wearing gloves.
No one was injured and officials did not reveal how much money the man stole.
